(Sr. Mary Victor) Sr. Rose-Marie Goguely, SSA (Sr. Mary Victor) was born November 21, 1942 in Tway, Saskatchewan and baptized at Bonne Madone, Saskatchewan. Sister Rose-Marie died peacefully on November 18, 2016 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Born of Francophone parents, Rose-Marie was the fourth of five children. She entered the Sisters of St. Ann on August 22, 1961 and pronounced her vows on August 27, 1963. Sister Rose-Marie’s ministry encompassed education at the elementary and adult levels, parish ministry and community leadership. Sr. Rose-Marie received her education at St. Ann's Academy, New Westminster; University of Victoria, (B.Ed), Corpus Christi College, London, England; Newman Theological College, Edmonton; Regis College, Toronto (MA); numerous courses and workshops on various aspects of spirituality, ministry and religious education. As a teacher, Rose-Marie served at St. Ann’s Academy, Victoria and Queen of Angels School, Duncan.

The majority of Rose-Marie’s ministry was in Religious Education: Parish Religious Education Co-ordinator in Duncan and Nanaimo, member of the Victoria Diocesan Religious Education Team, Diocesan Co-ordinator of Religious Education and Social Justice, then the Director of Religious Education in Prince George, BC, Pastoral Ministry and Religious Education Co-ordinator Penticton, BC. During the many years that Rose-Marie ministered, she served as part of the Western Conference of Religious Educators and was a member of the National Advisory Committee of the National Office of Religious Education in developing programs for elementary and sacramental programs for home, parish and school education. During the last ten years, Rose-Marie was responsible for preparing liturgies, prayer services, retreats, funerals and other celebrations for the sisters in her community. Predeceased by her parents; Victor Goguely and Florence Lepine; sister Antoinette Marsolais, sister-in-law Lorraine Watson Goguely, brother-in-law Bill Herchuk and niece Cecile Caouette Hynninen. Survived by her sisters Claire (Gil) Caouette, Denise Herchuk, brother Victor, brother-in-law Michael Marsolais, many nieces and nephews, many friends and her own community of Sisters of St. Ann. The Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 4049 Gordon Head Road, Victoria, BC. Interment: Hatley Memorial Gardens.
