Dignity Vancouver Appreciates Bishop’s Pastoral Instance

     The Editor:
We wondered if you might find space to remark on Bishop Miller’s letter regarding the Orlando massacre. The chapter members wanted to express their appreciation for the bishop’s willingness to acknowledge that the targeted victims were from the LGBT community. This makes him one of only a handful of Roman Catholic bishops in North America who were willing to do this. It seemed a marked departure from the clinical terms which have traditionally been used for the community in clerical documents and statements and we thank him for that pastoral gesture. It would be nice if it were a sign of openness.
I enclose a copy of the letter which was sent on the occasion of the gathering held in Vancouver at the Art Gallery.
