COVID Poem

World peace has been achieved at a terrible price
As the poor are reduced to noodles, beans and rice
People in tents in Beacon Hill Park
COVID the big virus has plunged us all into the dark.

But it’s quiet on earth
and there’s way less earthquakes.
We’re all doing the best we can
while hundreds of thousands are dying
You can hear the octogenarians knitting and sighing.

It’s just like the war
only the Germans are germs.
And we all wear masks
and agreed to the corona terms.
Shakespeare and company
managed to endure the plague years
while the coming vaccines are still in arrears.

We all hold our breaths and pray we are cured soon,
there’s nothing new under the sun
yet salvation may appear
beneath Earth’s orbiting moon.
