At the Victoria Anglican Installation at Christ Church Cathedral, Bishop Logan McMenamie cited De Roo as a model for his own bishopric. The Order of the Diocese of British Columbia Investiture Service was instigated by Bishop Logan to recognize 'Faithfulness of Service.' Recognized as an honorary Officer, Bishop De Roo was cited for a life dedicated to the gospel and as someone who exemplified the ideals of the diocese. The program notes continue; “A man of great honour..who worked closely with nine Anglican Bishops … a voice for the voiceless… with great dignity he told the story of Vatican II.”
While an annual event, this was the inaugural occasion and featured senior parishioners from throughout Vancouver Island for their years of dedicated service. A number of them were not able to attend due to the infirmities of age. Future investitures will doubtless focus on the contribution of youth, and also innovative and creative members of the community.
