Sister Eileen had a profound impact on my life. She was among my new friends of Sisters of Saint Anne. I attended a couple of her poetry readings which spoke to my heart. I could relate to many of her poems. Her voice was comforting and easy to listen to, bringing life to the pictures and words she had written.

I only had the opportunity to experience Reiki once with Sister Eileen. We chatted before the healing process began. I was comfortable and soon extremely relaxed. I had a powerful experience with vivid colours and images. I was inspired to write a poem and create a picture from the experience which I shared in a previous ICN issue. Each time I saw Sister Eileen I was greeted with a smile, friendly chatter and encouragement to keep doing my artwork and writing.

It was a shock to me when I heard the news of her death. I still miss her when I attend Mount Saint Mary chapel or the Friary.

I attended the mass of Christian Burial Service for Sister Eileen Curteis, SSA. The church chapel overflowed with the lives of those she knew and inspired. It deeply touched me when I saw the numerous students from St. Patrick’s School come to show their support. Once again I felt God’s presence as each song was sung and memory was told. I am grateful Sister Eileen was apart of my life.
