      With wife Sylvia, close friends Gerald and Charlotte Herkel by his side, Louis peacefully passed away at Eagle Park Health Care Facility, Qualicum Beach, BC on February 26, 2018 at the age of 90 years.
      Born in Courtenay, British Columbia on June 10, 1927, Louis is predeceased by his parents Otto and Rosa (Birrer) Hofstetter; his brothers, Otto and Louis 1; sisters, Annie and Marguerite; and nephew Otto.
      Louis is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Mary (Scott) Hofstetter and family, and lovingly remembered by his nieces, Marguerite, Ursula, and Gratiella; nephews, Fritz and Romano; cousins Ruedi and Susy, and many more; Godchildren, Heather and Catherine Ellis, and Robyn Molson.
      Louis was a loving, kind, compassionate, and dearly loved friend to all who knew him.

      Louis was a loving, kind, compassionate, and dearly loved friend to all who knew him.
      Louis was a Swiss Banker, Jesuit Teaching Priest and Pastor at St. Patrick’s in Victoria, Port Hardy, Port McNeil and Port Alice. He was a volunteer at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, and a member of the Green Party. He loved to sing, hike, fish and enjoyed Kirsch, Swiss cheese and chocolate, and had a real passion for foraging mushrooms in every forest.
      A service was held at the Church of Ascension, Parksville, BC on April 5, 2018 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Frank Salmon OMI officiated and Reverend Michael Favero was the Hosting Pastor.
