Lillian Joan Barker Segger Passes

Joan died peacefully March 31, 2014, at Victoria, after a long life, well-lived. She is survived by three sons (Martin, Timothy and Hhuli) and their wives, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Joan was born in London, England, September 3, 1922. She worked in the Bank of England, and then the Ministry of Food when she was evacuated during the Blitz to Winchester, where she met and married Gerald Se4gger in 1944. They emigrated to Canada in 1957, first to Saskatchewan, and in 1959 to Port Alberni, British Columbia, where she soon became active in the community. A devout Roman Catholic, she served many years as secretary at Smith Memorial school, and in the Girl Guides as a leader and District Commissioner. Later in Victoria after the death of Gerry in 1993, she volunteered as a docent at the Royal British Columbia Museum. Joan will be missed and remembered by her family and friends.
