Gerald Michael Weeks

Gerald passed away at home in Burnaby, B.C. A kind and generous person he was born in Vancouver, the son of William Weeks and Marion Sweeney. Predeceased by his brothers Ronald (Rick) and William. Gerald is survived and dearly missed by his life partner and caregiver, Cym Williams; brothers Paul and Mark, sister Suzanne Humphries, and many Sweeney and Weeks cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends here, and in Toronto, and Australia.

After graduating from UBC in library science, Gerald went to work at the University of Toronto Library. Five years later he returned to B.C., serving as business librarian at BCIT Burnaby for 29 years, and later was a part time reference librarian at Burnaby Public Library. Gerald enjoyed and cared for people with his involvement in various community groups. In retirement he travelled and became an accomplished artist after taking up painting.

Funeral service with Eucharist was conducted by The Reverend Heidi Brear, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Cedar Cottage Anglican Church, 1530 East 22nd Avenue, Vancouver. Interment Ocean View Burial Park, Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees Canada (give.unhcr.ca), or to Rose Charities Canada (rosecharities.ca ).
