The successful candidate will meet the following.

● Assist the Steering Group members and committees in their efforts to strengthen and expand the Catholics for Justice & Peace in the Holy Land (CJPHL) Steering Group and networks both within and outside the Church.

● Coordinate and participate in networking to further the goal of the CJPHL Mission Statement, and engage in solidarity with partners in activities whose goals align with the Statement.

● Create and maintain and monitor a dynamic social media presence with links to partners, resources, news, events and Church teaching.

● Produce and disseminate periodic newsletters, urgent action requests and event notices to CJPHL members, allies and subscribers.

● Draft letters to be addressed to political leaders, decision makers, Church leaders and/or possibly published in news media when deemed necessary by the Steering Group.

● Support and help grow and deepen understanding of the situation in Palestine in a variety of milieux (e.g. schools, Churches and other Catholic organizations).

● Submit monthly financial and narrative reports to Steering Group describing work accomplished, challenges, opportunities and projects in process.

● Seek approval from Steering Group before incurring any extraordinary expenses on behalf of CJPHL (such as printing documents for distribution, costs of running a website if any, etc.).

● Draft agendas for and set up monthly meetings (mostly online, occasionally in person) in collaboration with the Steering Group chair, send out reminders about meetings, and take minutes.

● Maintain organized electronic records of the CJPHL Steering Group and its sub-committees.

This is an interim six months position with possibility of renewal.
Location: Virtual
Pay: $20/hour
Hours /month or /week: To be determined (approximately 20 hours/month)
Preferred Qualifications:

● demonstrated concern for the situation in the Holy Land, and understanding of the history and current realities;

● knowledge of Catholic Church teaching, particularly in the area of social justice and Catholic Social Teaching (education and experience to be considered)

● strong writing skills, and experience in coordinating meetings and preparing written material

● established connections to partner groups and organizations in the Holy Land and in Canada.
