OPENING PRAYER
God of Advent, dawning,
draw us close to You
in a season of hope and anticipation.
Light our way in darkness.
Bring comfort in the midst of trials, sickness and distress [or disease].
With Mary, woman of courage,
we celebrate and long for the coming of Jesus –
into our lives and into the world – amid all creation.
Send us your Spirit of strength and gentleness,
opening us to experience joy in You.
We pray in the name of Jesus, Sun of Justice and
Hope of all nations. Amen.
CLOSING PRAYER
God of our longing,
thank You for loving us generously — as we are.
Guide us, now, to cherish and share our experience
of Advent – of your coming into our hearts and world
in the person of your Son, Jesus.
Send us your Spirit to give birth in our time –
and in our daily lives –
to your vibrant love, mercy and justice,
for the sake of Earth and all creation.
We pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
ADVENT PRAYER
Praise to You, God of our longing!
During this graced Advent season,
speak tenderly to our hearts.
Send us your Spirit of Hope and Light.
Help us recognize You in present darkness,
easing our fear amid pandemic
and anxiety that comes from wanting more,
while having enough.
Inspire our desire for Transformation,
as we await Gift of Incarnation . . .
welcoming Love who brings
true dignity and security,
embracing all,
enriching all,
calling us to share justly
and celebrate joyfully.
We ask this through the Sun of Kindness and Justice,
who came with courage to set us free. Amen.
