RUMSBY, William Robert (Bill) With sadness we announce the death of William Robert (Bill) Rumsby of Sooke, BC. Predeceased by his parents; Nettie and Frank Rumsby; wife, Kathryn, in 2009; and his sister, Joan, in 2008; and father-in-law, Maurice Blizzard, in 2013. Bill passed away at Ayre Manor, Sooke, May 31, 2014. He was born December 14, 1930 in Victoria, BC and lived in Sooke most of his life. In his younger days, he worked for the Canadian Coast Guard. He then worked for several city electrical contractors earning his journeyman ticket. Later on he worked with his brother, Larry, in the electrical trade. Bill married Kathryn Blizzard in 1981. Together they traveled around Canada by RV with their Cat, George, taking many pictures. He was an avid reader and did many puzzles, both crossword and picture. For years he was a Victoria Motor Car Club member. In 2008, he received a citizenship award from Sooke Harbour Chamber of Commerce.

Sooke Elderly Citizens Society honoured Bill in celebration of his devotion and leadership of 45 years in April 2014. Survived by brother Larry (Betty); mother-in-law, Kathryn Blizzard; brothers-in-law, Martin and Murray Blizzard; special brother-in-law, Harry (Brenda) Blizzard of Kitchner Ont.; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by good friends – Richard, Jean, Eric, and Phyllis Phillips, Bill and Marion Laurie; Paul and Kathryn Whitworth. A memorial service was held on Sat. July 5, 2014 at 11 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima, 2191 Townsend Rd, Sooke, BC.
